<p>I never thought there were really any serious problems associated with snoring until when I got into college. Then all of a sudden I would have my roommate choosing to spend all night in class or in the library rather than come home to sleep, which was odd; but truth be told, he had told me previously that he could no longer stand the night noises, and that something would have to be done to stop them. But that wasn&#8217;t all: soon after, I would have people &#8211; neighbors &#8211; pounding on my door at all hours of the night, shouting that I should go easy on the racket, which I didn&#8217;t understand if my breathing noises were an evidence of good living.</p>
<p>But it was when I started having trouble staying awake in daytime that I finally realized and acknowledged that I had serious issues that I needed to work on. You see, what I did not know before was that snoring combined with rapid and heavy breathing is never a good sign. I could not hear it by myself, but I had been told that I was starting also to have interspersed breathing patterns in my sleep, coupled with seven- to ten-second periods of halting in my inhalation and exhalation process.</p>
<p>When I went to see a physician about it eventually, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, which incidentally was a more serious sleep disorder that can cause excessive sleepiness during the day; precisely what I had been suffering from. Another problem that I suddenly found now was that this kind of sleeping disorder was associated with several heart disorders that people suffer from.</p>

<p>Painkillers actually do have an effect on the central nervous system that is not always on the positive side. Snorers feel this is the worst, so that painkillers are not something that they should get too used to. If you can do it, stay without the pills, and if you have trouble with that, get the doctor to prescribe you something not that bad for your night breathing.</p>
<p>If you are trying to stop the snoring phenomenon, you should look for ways to keep the airway passage in your respiratory tract open. This is to allow for freer passage of air so that you don&#8217;t snore. Exercise helps, better sleeping positions do too. With a little effort you should be able to stop it completely.</p>
